OIA CHAMPIONSHIPS RE-CAP
The Girls Team placed 4th and the Boys Team placed third. Roosevelt's OIA Champions: Wreyn Dagdagan (50 yd Freestyle), Tallen Vidal (100 yd Butterfly), Boys 200 yd Medley Relay (Leo Tenev, Ziya Quinn, Tallen Vidal, Wreyn Dagdagan), Boys 200 yd Freestyle Relay (Leo Tenev, Tallen Vidal, Allen Rauschenburg, Wreyn Dagdagan). GIRLS AND BOYS PLACE SECOND AT EAST CHAMPIONSHIPS Both the girls and boys teams placed second in the East Championships held at VMAC. Both teams scored 109 points each. Winning relays: Girls 200 yd Medley Relay, Girls 200 yd Freestyle Relay, Boys 200 yd Medley Relay. Individual East Champions: Malia Lauret (200 yd Freestyle), Jayzlyn Tomisa (100 yd Backstroke), Wreyn Dagdagan (50 yd Freestyle), Tallen Vidal (100 yd. Butterfly). Kimberly Cassens and Joyce Wong joined the list of individual state qualifiers. Congratulations! to all that established new personal bests. Your working hard is paying off. Keep it up!!! ROOSEVELT BOYS DOMINATE AT JV CHAMPS Roosevelt's Boys won the OIA JV Championships scoring 166 points to Kalani's and Kaiser's 70. They broke meet records in the 200 yd. Medley Relay 1:50.61 (Leo Tenev, Toby Halim, Wreyn Dagdagan, Alex Tenev) and 200 yd. Freestyle Relay 1:37.77 (Leo Tenev, Kody Lin, Aidan Taba, Wreyn Dagdagan). Leo (100 yd. Butterfly, 100 yd. Backstroke) and Wreyn (200 yd. Individual Medley, 100 yd. Freestyle) were double-winners in their individual events. Toby Halim captured the 100 yd. Breaststroke title. On the girls side, all four girls scored in their events. FIVE FIRST-PLACE FINISHES AT OIA RELAYS Five relays placed first in the recent OIA Relay Championships. One boys school record was established beating the old record by over two seconds! Over-all the Girls placed 3rd and the Boys 2nd. New school record: Boys 200 yd. Butterfly Relay, 1:41.09 (Tallen Vidal 25.28, Leo Tenev 25.26, Allen Rauschenburg 26.26, Wreyn Dagdagan 24.29). Girls first-place relays: 200 yd. Backstroke Relay and 200 yd. Butterfly Relay (Kimberly Cassens, Malia Lauret, Joyce Wong, Jayzlyn Tomisa), This was the second year in a row that Roosevelt won these two events. Other boys first-place relays: 200 yd. Medley Relay and 200 yd. Freestyle Relay (Leo Tenet, Ziya Quinn, Tallen Vidal, Wreyn Dagdagan). CURRENT STATE QUALIFIERS (as of 1/21/24) GIRLS - 200 yd Medley Relay, 200 yd Freestyle Relay, 400 yd Freestyle Relay, Malia Lauret (100-200-500 yd Free), Jayzlyn Tomisa (200 yd IM, 100 yd Backstroke), Joyce Wong (200 yd IM, 100 yd Butterfly), Kimberly Cassens (100 yd Backstroke). BOYS - 200 yd Medley Relay, 200 yd Freestyle Relay, 400 yd Freestyle Relay, Tallen Vidal (100 yd Butterfly), Wreyn Dagdagan (50-100-200-500 Free, 200 yd IM, 100 yd Butterfly, 100 yd Backstroke, 100 yd Breaststroke), Leo Tenev (100 yd Butterfly, 100 yd Backstroke, 50 yd Freestyle). ROUGH RIDERS PLACE HIGH IN THE 1st ANNUAL TROJAN PENTATHLON Roosevelt placed many swimmers in the top ranks in the recent Pentathlon. Points were added from the four events that each person swam.
